Ezekiel Elijah Elliot was born July 22, 1995, in Alton, Illinois to father, Stacy Elliot, and mother, Dawn Elliot. Both his parents were college athletes with Dawn running track for the University of Missouri and Stacy was a linebacker for the Missouri Football Team.
Elliot attended John Burroughs School in Laude, Missouri, where he was a star in three sports: football, basketball, and track. He also played baseball.
He was a running back for John Burroughs Bombers football team and in 2012 he was named St. Louis Post-Dispatch offensive player of the year. Elliot led the team to three championship games though they did not win any of them. He was considered a four-star recruit and was listed as the number 9 national running back in 2013. That same year he played in the Army All-American Bowl.
Elliot was a talented track and field athlete qualifying for the state sprinting and hurdling events. He won four state championships at the Missouri Class 3 state championships in 2.5 hours and was named Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year at Missouri State.
Despite a lot of pressure to join the University of Missouri like his parents, Elliot chose to join Ohio State University in 2013 where he was back up to starter Carlos Hyde. He took over as the starter for the Buckeyes in 2014 when Hyde was drafted into the NFL. Elliot was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Conference team where his two touchdowns helped his team win. The win qualified Ohio State for the College Football Playoff for the first time. In 2015 Elliot made the announcement that he would enter the 2016 NFL Draft after making 10 straight wins and finishing his career at Ohio State on several leaderboards.
During his stay at Ohio State, Elliot was named the Offensive MVP of both the 2015 Sugar Bowl and College Football Playoff National Championship Game. He was a frontrunner for the 2015 Heisman Trophy, though he did not receive it. He was named the 2015 Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year. 2015 Ameche-Dwayne Running Back of the Year and Big Ten Player of the week twice in 2015. He was also selected as Unanimous First Team All-Big Ten that same year.
Elliot was selected in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract worth $24.9 million with a1$6.3 million signing bonus. The first thing he did after signing with the Cowboys was to buy his parents a house.
He started his career with the Cowboys by being named starting running back into the regular season. He finished his first season as the NFL’s top rusher and was selected as a First-Team All-Pro and earned his first Pro Bowl. He has continued to prove the Cowboys made a wise investment in him over the years with more touchdowns and record rushes.
Elliot has not been open about his love life but there have been women linked to him over the years and may even be married.
Halle Woodard was born November 24, 1992, to Patricia Simpson in Iowa. Halle has kept a low profile so what most people know about her is that she resides in Dallas and her mother’s name is Patricia Simpson. Information about her father and whether she has siblings has been kept out of her social media.
She was at J.J. Pearce High School, located in Richardson, where she was a member of the track and field team. She then enrolled at Iowa State University and graduated with a nursing degree in 2013.
Woodard reportedly worked as a nurse by day and worked at night as a bartender at a bar and lounge called Citizen Dallas. She also works as a personal trainer at Body Machine Fitness.
Elliot and Woodard started dating in 2017 according to a report by Terez Owens. Elliot’s mother posted photos of Woodard on her birthday, November 24. She wrote that she loves Woodard like a daughter and praised her beauty and intelligence.
Elliot and Woodard have had some tough times such as when Elliot was arrested for getting in a fight with a safety officer at Electric Daisy Festival in Las Vegas. Coupled with an earlier argument, they called it quits and even unfollowed each other on social media.
They got back together in September and rumors say they got married at some point in 2020. Elliot’s mother referred to her as her daughter-in-law on her Instagram page.
Woodard has an Instagram account that is set to private with 1,274 followers.
Tiffany Thompson was born in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, in 1996. Tiffany graduated from Pickerington High School and worked as a “doll” at a nightclub in Columbus, Ohio called Columbus Sway.
Tiffany and Elliot met while he was still at Ohio State University. Rumors of them dating started coming out in early 2015 and they seemed to be happy. This, however, did not last as allegations of domestic violence were made by Tiffany against Elliot in 2016. Tiffany took to Twitter to upload pictures that showed bruises on her body as proof of the violence before taking her account private shortly after. She wrote:
“Just for every woman out there getting abused it’s time to put a stop to it. This has been happening to me for months and it finally got out of control to where I was picked up and thrown across the room by my arms. Thrown into walls. Being choked to where I have to gasp for breath. Bruised everywhere, mentally and physically abused. It’s not okay. I want each and every one of you girls to step away now from domestic violence. You’re worth so much more. I got told it was called “tough love” I’m sorry if you love someone you don’t touch your loved ones.”
Posts with pictures of her bruises have since been deleted from her social media.
Police reports were filed on several occasions by Thompson alleging domestic violence. On one occasion she claimed Elliot beat her while she sat in her car for texting one of his teammates. She took pictures of the bruises and posted them on Twitter. Elliot denied the allegations, saying she got the bruises in a bar fight. Four witnesses to the incident, one of whom was Thompson’s friend, signed an affidavit contradicting Thompson’s version of events. The contradictory versions of events led to the police not taking action against Elliot. Some of the other cases of violence reported to the police seemed to take the same route with contradictions not allowing for action to be taken.
Elliott was suspended from six matches in 2017 based on allegations of violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. The NFL conducted a year-long investigation starting in 2016 which led to the suspension, though he was never criminally charged.
Elliot described the relationship as mostly sexual, one among many he was involved in at the time, though the NFL’s investigation showed texts where he said he loved her and would marry her. Among the complications was that Tiffany got herself pregnant on purpose when visiting him in Florida in February 2016 when he was about to end their relationship.
He was also allegedly blackmailed by Thompson, who was threatening to sell their sex tape for cash unless he paid her. The NFL responded by criticizing those who spread “derogatory information to the media about the victim in Ezekiel Elliot’s disciplinary case.” Saying the tactic of discrediting the victims to invalidate their claims was shameful and made it difficult for others to come forward, report violence, and seek help.
A detailed breakdown of all events related to the domestic violence allegations has been chronicled by SBNation showing the timeline, accusations, and the results of the accusations.
Ezekiel Elliot claimed he married Leanne Hurster at some point in 2014. Ezekiel posted a photo on Instagram with the caption wishing her a happy birthday and calling her his BFF/ wife. Despite the claim, no evidence of the marriage has surfaced online. This is especially hard for a high-profile college athlete to achieve, though not impossible. It may have just been a term of endearment, not a literal statement since no evidence of a corresponding divorce has been found.
The two went to the same high school, John Burroughs High School in St. Louis. They also went to at least one formal event together, probably the prom, according to a picture of them in formal wear.
